Visitors

My mom and grandparents came in for lunch today. They arrived right at noon and Bryce was asleep. He woke up early (4am) because he was so excited about their visit but he paid the price and was worn out by 8am. The gang showed up at noon and I thought we could eat lunch while he finished napping and then feed him. Mimi had other plans and woke him immediately but it worked out because I had a bottle ready so she fed him while I ate.

Bryce loved Mimi's magic touch and instantly fell asleep. Mother and Mimi did their best to wake him back up but he slept soundly till 3, I fed him and then back to sleep for the little guy. Not the most exciting visit but it was nice and quiet! Papa managed to get a few pictures while he was here.

Russell's edit: While Papa did take some pictures, Paige didn't post the best, and most typical pose. We're hoping Bryce might be a conductor (musical, not train) or perhaps a modern artist as he flaps paint on a canvas. He must get this gene from his Mimi:

1 month old

We went for Bryce's 1 month checkup today. He is 8lbs, 7oz. He gained about 2 lbs. in 2 weeks so the doctor was very pleased. Bryce was less than thrilled with the whole experience and showed his displeasure by peeing all over the exam table and the floor. So embrassing but they're the ones who think it's a good idea to check him out without a diaper on.

Here are 2 photos. The first one is from bath day last week and the other is today when we came home from the doctor.

Pictures

So Papa asked for an updated picture of Bryce in his car seat because the first one Russell took coming home from the hospital turned out so well. I'm not the photographer that Russ is and having been trying to take a decent picture all week. Here are my attempts.

Nothing very exciting to report. I took Bryce to work this week to meet my co-workers. He slept the whole time in his car seat which was nice. As long as I take him out of the house right after he eats he will stay asleep through my errands.

Next week is his 1 month checkup, I'll let you know how it goes and how much weight he has gained. Russ and I both think Bryce is turning into a little chubball!

Hut, hut, hut

Well...a very proud day in the Newman household today. Mack Brown officially offered Bryce a scholarship for the 2024 class. I wasn't aware that they recruited for the position of accountant ;-) Well...the scholarship is contingent on a few things so after he starts walking, we'll have to start working on his 40 times.

Tummy time

Since not everyone is familiar with tummy time I thought I put up some pictures. We mainly play on the living room floor but I use his play gym too. It's a little bit of an effort to keep him awake and moving but it's worth it to see him pick his head up. He can move it side to side if I get him going. I showed Russell how well we've been doing, I think Russ was more entertained by my efforts than Bryce's.

On a side note-I finally got someone to sleep through the night...it's Josie! The poor dog has finally given up getting up with me all night. She is sleeping great and feeling much better.

2 week checkup

Bryce got a great report today! We were hoping that he regained his birth weight (5 lb, 15oz) since he dropped to 5lb at his one week checkup. He weighed in at 6lb, 10oz today!! He's been eating like a hungry hippo but I was still surprised at the big gain. The doctor said I no longer have to wake him at night. He can sleep as long as he needs to. Of course she did say it's not likely that he'll sleep more than 3.5 hours but it's a start.

The doctor also told me to start tummy time to build his back and neck muscles so we have something new to try this afternoon. Josie loves whenever I put him within her reach so I'm sure this activity will entertain all of us.

Day of firsts

I changed Bryce last night and noticed that his umbilical cord fell off. That meant today was bath day. Josie "helped". She loved that I was finally bathing someone besides her. He did great, no crying and it wore him right out. Perfect since it's dinnertime and I'm starving.

Before the big bath we took the BOB jogging stroller out. I walked almost 2 miles with him this morning. That stroller was worth every penny. It was a smooth ride for him and very easy for me to push. Can't wait to start running! I need new shoes so it may be a few more weeks before I attempt a run.

Some pictures from the weekend

Nana and Grandpa Bob finally made it home last night some time after 2 on the East coast. I would say it was a successful visit...especially since Bry got 2 of the most essential things in life...a set of golf clubs and a Derek Jeter jersey (well...techincally it's a onesy, but we're men, we wear jerseys). You can count on there being pictures of him decked out in baseball gear....and he should fit in them just in time for opening day 2007...I smell father son bonding day.

I'm sure I've got some of the same pictures on my camera from the visit, but I stole these from Bob.
